DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Raleigh - Durham

We had a wonderful two-room suite, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, which made the stay feel pleasant. Housekeeping was great. There’s free laundry on the 7th floor and quarter laundry on the 3rd. The room Keurig came with tea and coffee pods, and the front desk had more if needed. The indoor heated pool was busy with families, but I didn’t use it. It was below freezing outside and I wasn’t in the mood. There’s a bar restaurant at the front with breakfast and dinner options. Parking was easy and account front.

The room was clean, the water was hot, and the people were nice, but I left disappointed. The fridge froze my food, and the AC unit’s cycle valve clacked all night, loud as a ruler slapped on a desk. The hallway carpet was filthy and a tripping hazard. The cookie was burned and hard as a brick. And the Wi-Fi was awful, just 5mb/sec on a speed test, so it’s no good if you need to get anything done. There’s nothing significant within walking distance, so you’ll need a vehicle. Another Hilton property in disrepair.

James and the 3 to 11 shift team, including the woman whose name I can’t remember, were great, as were housekeeping and maintenance. They made our family feel so welcome. The rooms were older but worked well for our family size, and the view was great. Fantastic location, about 10 minutes from Duke, downtown Durham, or the colleges. Hands down, the best hospitality. We’ll definitely stay there again.

Charletta at the restaurant and bar has been the best part of my stays. She makes you feel welcome and introduces you to other people on work trips. Her hospitality is a cut above. I’m away about 14 days a month, and this is one of my favorite spots for a drink after a long day. The shrimp and grits are worth ordering, and they’ll cook the wings to order. I like mine extra crispy, and the sauce is delicious. There’s also a good tap list. The suites are spacious, with comfy bedding, a wet bar, fridge, Keurig type machine, dining table, large couch that I assume pulls out, and two TVs. The shower is relaxing, and I appreciate the free toiletries. Check-in is quick, with warm cookies waiting, and Nanette is a lovely welcome if you need a ride. She plays good music and can answer questions about the area. Service is excellent, and the rooms are cozy. This is my favorite place to stay around Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. I hope to come in warmer weather to try the pool and walking path by the waterway. There’s also a library where guests can pick up or leave a book.
