La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Raleigh/Durham Southpoint

The people here are extremely nice, and the hotel is beautiful, clean, and smells great. That’s a nice change from places that look good but have a weird smell. Breakfast is great too. They do have rules, like any hotel, but if you follow them and act respectfully, they don’t nag or get up your butt like other high-quality hotels. My fridge didn’t work, but it didn’t bother me enough to mention it. Thanks for being a great hotel.

The breakfast selection was great, and the young woman at the desk was a doll. Our room was very clean and smelled sanitized, especially the bathroom, which was beyond clean. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. I would’ve preferred curtains so the room could get completely dark, but that’s not a complaint. I’d stay again regardless. One suggestion: have the owner or property manager look at the leak by the elevator before it causes serious structural or electrical problems. I’d been nervous after reading the reviews, but our stay was good.

The breakfast buffet is generous, delicious, and vegetarian-friendly. It included freshly cut fruit, white chocolate chips, whipped cream, and a variety of bagels and cream cheese. For a family, the savings from eating such an upscale breakfast can easily offset the room cost. The whole hotel feels modern and clean. The rooms are laid out to give privacy between the beds and living area, and the bathroom is roomy, functional, and aesthetically beautiful. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I’d definitely recommend it.

I booked online because of the high Hotels.com rating and arrived after sunset. The lock on my first-floor room was barely hanging on, with several holes around it suggesting the latch had been forced open before. There was a strong cigarillo smell, and the stains on the carpet looked suspicious. I went to ask about the room and see if I could get another one. I was trying to be kind, but my wife urgently messaged me: several men were standing outside the hotel room window staring at her until it was clear she wasn’t alone. I was told I’d get a refund, but it still hasn’t arrived. Do not stay here.
