Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Dyersburg by IHG

For $160 a night, I expected a much cleaner room. There was hair and stains on the sheets, the couch was dirty, and the carpet and bathroom floor were filthy. The tub wasn’t clean either. Shower pressure was awful, and the hot and cold taps were reversed. Check-in went fine, and at least the bed and AC were good. Holiday Inn Express, you need to do better.

We’ve stayed at HIExpress before and have always had good rooms and service. It costs a bit more than we like, but our stays have been reliably pleasant. There’s usually some small breakfast issue, and this time the apple juice came out watery on the first morning. I reported it, and by the next day it was fixed. The funny part is they’d switched the selection button from apple to water, while the new apple button gave us really tasty juice! lol.

The pillows were fantastic and the bed was comfortable. The room was fairly clean, though the air conditioner vents could use a cleaning, which I ended up doing myself. The AC made some noise, but to me it was white noise. Holiday Inn is usually pretty good, and I’d recommend this hotel.

The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful, and breakfast was decent. They’re what made this stop worthwhile. We were exhausted after a very long day of travel, couldn’t find many rooms available that late, and had two young kids with us. One fell asleep almost as soon as we got into the room, so I didn’t ask to move, though I might have otherwise. The bed was comfortable, but there was paper on it. The bathroom was filthy, the bathtub was disgusting, and there were dead spiders on the floor. We killed another when we woke up. The room smelled musty, and we could hear everyone around us. For over $200 a night, it’s not worth it if you can look elsewhere. I can only compare with other Holiday Inns I’ve stayed in, and this room was unclean, poorly maintained, and run down. The common areas seemed fairly clean, but the women’s bathroom near the pool and breakfast was gross, with dirty sinks. We only used it briefly when leaving.
