Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Eagan, MN

The location was convenient, just off the highway and easy to find, about 15 minutes east of MOA. McDonalds, Taco Bell, Holiday, and Kwik Trip are nearby, with the food places in walking distance. The stay itself was disappointing. One hot tub was empty and roped off, while the other had hot water but no working jets, and small children played in it throughout our four days. By Monday morning, breakfast basics like milk were gone. The beds weren't comfortable, and the only place to sit in the room was an uncomfortable desk chair. Towels were rough and sparse, though the front desk did bring more when we asked. After Sunday's snowstorm, plows were clearing the lot at 10 Monday morning while guests were trying to leave. The entry sidewalk seemed to have been shoveled just once and was still covered in salt and slushy melt.

The pool area needs attention. One hot tub was out of service, the other had no working jets, and the space could use a thorough cleaning. There were also large gaps under the door leading outside. On the good side, I've never dealt with friendlier hotel staff. The men at the front desk were wonderful and really accommodating when we had family and friends come for our daughter's birthday. Breakfast was standard for a Country Inn, and the rooms were about what you'd expect too.

The rooms and TV were big, and the brown-haired guy at the front desk was really nice. That's about all I liked. Our queen suite wasn't cleaned properly, with food and other stuff left on the counter by the closet. I didn't check out the pool, but reviews mentioning mice and the pool area made me wish I'd read more before booking. They have an indoor pool that people apparently can't use because it's too cold and poorly maintained. Parking was tight for the number of rooms. The breakfast was awful: burnt, dry omelets and sausage, undercooked potatoes, and almost nothing stocked by 8:45. Cereal seemed to be the main option, plus old fruit and bagels with no cream cheese. The breakfast attendant, who had a small baby with her, started cleaning before breakfast was over, after getting food for herself and putting some away. My kids eat slowly, and she used Google Translate to tell us we needed to leave so she could clean. The lobby wasn't clean either; she could have worked around us so my small child could finish eating. Bedding was stained, the quilts were very thin, the curtains were ripped and stained, and the fridge could only fit a few drinks. The sofa bed had no sheets, pillows, or blankets. We won't return. I'd rather stay at an IHG hotel, where they care about customers. It's sad because a hotel on the other side of Minneapolis was much more accommodating when we last worked in the area.

A mouse ran out from under one room door in the hallway and disappeared beneath another. I told the front desk, and the only response was that they had traps set. They need an exterminator. I was so worried about mice getting into our room that I pushed towels under the door. The pool and hot tub were filthy, with one of the two hot tubs roped off and the other only lukewarm with no jets. There was so much condensation in the pool room that I'd be surprised if there wasn't mold. Our room also smelled musty.
