We come back every January for the annual fishing tournament, and this place has never let us down. It’s close to the lake, shops, and restaurants. The rooms are clean and work well for couples, families, or bigger groups. The staff are outstanding and always do their best to accommodate what I need. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Eagles Nest NM, and I’ll keep coming back.

My wife and I spent four hours fishing the Rio Castillo with Graham as our guide. He was attentive and showed us things we hadn’t known about river fishing. We caught six trout altogether and had a great time. The trip was well worth it, and we’re looking forward to another guided outing with these folks. We didn’t stay overnight at their place, though we’ve heard the facilities are nice.

Graham was patient, knowledgeable, and a really good teacher. My son and I had never tried fly fishing, but he took us to a spot that worked well for beginners and guided us through it. We caught around 13-14 fish in about four hours. It was a great experience. We hired him to guide us and didn’t stay here.

Before heading out for trout, my daughter and I stopped in for advice. The man at the counter was friendly and helped us mark good fishing spots on the map. His suggestions were great, and he went above and beyond, making the trip more memorable.

I’d recommend Graham and the Fly Shack if you want a fishing trip. This was only my third time fly fishing, and Graham taught me so well that I finished feeling confident enough to go out on my own and do well. It was one of the best guided trips I’ve taken.
