The porch room gives you a lovely view of the dark sky and the dunes in the distance. Bring binoculars or a telephoto camera lens if you want good photos. The room has a fridge and microwave, handy for bringing food or getting takeout from the closest town, since there’s no restaurant nearby in the national park. The room looked much nicer inside than the outside suggested. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was clean with good pressure. You can hear a little noise from other rooms, but it wasn’t too bad. Breakfast was a simple continental spread, enough before a morning trip to the sand dunes NP. Also, great customer service: we left a personal item behind after checkout and came back after visiting the NP. The front desk lady checked with the cleaning team in back and even fished it out of the trash for us.

The sunrise views from every room are stunning, and it’s very close to the dunes national park. It was really quiet during my visit. Breakfast is takeout style, with waffles, toast, and mini bagels. Also, the office cat is adorable and super friendly, a nice bonus!

It’s very convenient for the dunes, and I’m glad they stay open through winter. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was mostly bread, muffins, and cold options, with a waffle maker but no eggs or sausage. There weren’t any tables for sitting down to eat. The rooms were basic and clean, but both mattresses in ours sagged in the middle and sat higher at the edges. We sank down when we got in and had to make an effort to climb back out. Management might want to replace them.

The views are wonderful, and it’s a great location. My screen door wasn’t attached, which was a bit of a bummer since I’d have liked to leave the door open, but there were too many flies. Breakfast had nothing for people with gluten issues, so I was glad I brought my own food. The staff were very nice, and Peppermint the kitty is adorable.

If you’re hoping to get an early start at Great Sand Dunes National Park, the location is hard to beat. Our room was very roomy with a fantastic view, and parking was incredibly convenient. The staff were accommodating about a late check-in as long as you call ahead. We had direct TV in the room, which was great and unexpected. Breakfast had a good selection of grab-and-go items.
