La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Garden City

I did a walkthrough because I was almost going to book this place for my wedding. It was gross. People assume it's fancy because it's in "garden city," but no, run. This place is nasty.

Housekeeping was super nice, but I don't know if we'll stay here again anytime soon. The last time we visited, we had pleasant experiences. This time there were a lot of unpleasant changes. The room itself was fine, and we mainly used it to sleep at night. Breakfast was much more limited, mostly carbs, with only a cheesy egg omelette for protein. Before, there had been at least two protein choices and more fruit. We also tried the fitness center, but the machines were broken and there were no signs warning us. I didn't bring a swimsuit, so I didn't check the pool. The families seemed to be long-term residents rather than just there for Mother's Day. They treated the hotel more like an apartment. The kids were mostly respectful, which was nice, but breakfast was crowded enough that even getting a spoon was a challenge. Staff were smoking in the no-smoking section beside the sign, and long-term residents were also smoking pot. It kept wafting in because they propped open the side door. The front desk also gave out our room number and confirmed we were staying there to a family member, without asking us or checking who the person was. We were a bit spooked to find a greeting card in our room. The clerk admitted he'd shared our information without checking with us.

There was loud music from a car in the parking lot late into the night, and the hallway stayed busy with chatter and doors opening and closing. I've never felt so unsafe at a hotel, and this was the most restless sleep I've had in one. The sheets were stained, though they changed them quickly. The rest of the room was clean.

The room was spacious and clean, and I like that they offer to change the bed linens and towels daily if needed. Amanda and Taylor at the front desk were excellent. I'm looking forward to another Wyndham Hotels and Resorts stay!
