Circle R Motel

We ended up choosing East Glacier after hearing that a standard queen in St Mary was around $460 USD. We called around, and John Ray held a room for us based only on our name, no confirmation needed. After coming over Logan Pass from Whitefish, we got into town just in time for wood-fired pizza and salad with a sunset view. The bed was super comfortable, the shower had plenty of pressure, and there was lots of coffee in the room. John and his family keep a clean, comfortable place with all the essentials. We even enjoyed hearing the nearby trains. Thanks for a great night!

Michael at the desk was polite and very professional. The room felt clean and safe, and I loved being so close to the hiking trails.

The manager's response turned a bad room into an even worse experience. When I said we couldn't stay because it was too hot and the AC was broken, he told us there were no other rooms, offered no refund or discount, and said we'd still be charged. He got rude when we said we were leaving, and said speaking to the owner wouldn't matter because the owner was out of town. Earlier, the front desk had said they'd contact the manager about the old window unit, which was missing parts, but no one came after 30 minutes. The manager then offered two fans, but they would've just blown the hot air around and still left us unable to sleep. We were also told every other motel nearby was full, and with little to no cell reception, we couldn't check for ourselves. The place was an old, rundown motel, and the room was too hot to sleep in.

The staff were laid-back and check-in was easy. My room was roomy and had a good AC and heating unit. Trains passed during the night, but we didn't notice them from inside. There wasn't internet, though I had phone service, so it didn't matter to me.
