The Lucerne Inn

We had the last reservation for the Easter buffet, and the food was still fresh, warm, and delicious. There was plenty of variety for everyone, and the service was fantastic. We don't often write reviews, but this was worth mentioning. Looks like we've found a new holiday tradition. We're already looking forward to golfing and having a meal here this summer. The room looked nicely set up and the people were well dressed, but the professionalism just wasn't there. Our waitress was loud, snarky, and sarcastic, and seemed to ignore us while checking on the tables on either side. We felt neglected. Someone else brought out our burger and Caesar salad. Our waitress thanked her but never asked if we were all set. We waited a long time for her to come back, partly because we wanted to order something else, and she never did. The burger was pretty wimpy, with one piece of bacon and no seasoning. If I could have tipped the busboy directly, I would have. At first, it was a nice, quiet dinner for me and my fiancé, but that changed soon after we sat down, when the waitstaff got extremely loud. We came in with high hopes and left terribly disappointed. I've probably only written one other restaurant review in my life, which says a lot about how let down I felt.

The food was okay, but we waited 40 minutes for anyone to take our order even though the dining room was nearly empty. Then, while we were still eating, staff started getting the room ready for Sunday brunch. They rolled out carpets and loudly set up folding tables within 20 feet of us. I could barely hear my father sitting beside me. If the room needs to be cleared by nine for setup, they should improve the service times or stop taking 7:30 reservations. We'd arranged a babysitter and my parents had traveled from out of state for what was meant to be a special night. Instead, the awful service and noisy setup made it one of my most disappointing meals in years. The bill was nearly $450.

The continental breakfast was good, and we'd stay here again when we're in the area. The older building was something we really liked, and my wife was very happy with it. Our room was nice and the bed was comfortable. It's far enough from Bar Harbor that the price was very good, and the drive into town was pretty.
