Residence Inn by Marriott Kingston

I spent a month at Marriott and had a lovely stay. Joseph was especially kind, hardworking, and supportive, helping with my everyday activities and other needs. The rest of the team were wonderful too, and I really enjoyed the stay. The hotel itself is absolutely amazing.

The breakfast room staff were attentive and efficient, and the place was modern, clean, quiet, and comfortable. It’s been a while since I felt good about staying at a Marriott. After 25 years as a Marriott rewards member and frequent guest around the country, I started avoiding their properties in 2021 because of several awful stays and what seemed like a decline in quality. This Residence Inn has gone a long way toward rebuilding my confidence, though it was a bit pricey on a fall weekend.

We chose this hotel because the photos showed a big pool, but it didn’t work, and the WiFi didn’t work either, as the receptionist confirmed. We’d accidentally booked two suites for two days when we needed one room for one day for me, my wife, and our kid. When we arrived, I tried to cancel the second room and day. The receptionist kept escalating instead of calming things down or suggesting what we could do, repeating a firm no and saying, “you are free to leave tomorrow if you like” and “nothing personal, it’s how business works.” We were left with a bill four times higher than necessary. Good for them, I guess. I’m disappointed with Mariott and will try to avoid it in future.

We had a full kitchen to use, plus a large TV in both the living room and bedroom. Our suite faced the mountains and was lovely, and the hotel was close to everything. There were a couple of minor problems: one of the two elevators was out of service for half our stay, and the suite could use another trash can in the bedroom. We stayed nearly two weeks and I’ll definitely come back.
