Breakfast was pretty limited, and there was no cable or smart TV. The WiFi was good and the room itself was comfortable. I’ll try other options next time.

My refrigerator quit around 8 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026, and the food inside warmed up and spoiled. I called the front desk and was told they would contact the manager, who wouldn't be back until 9 a.m. on March 17, so they couldn't promise anything. The desk worker came to my room and said the manager could offer a bagel and yogurt. I explained that I have Stage IV Metastatic Cancer, that this wasn't enough for a meal, and that none of the food in the warm fridge was safe for me to eat. I showed her some of the food and a drink. She offered to move everything to the office refrigerator and said it would be fine, but I explained that I couldn't eat food that had warmed to room temperature and then been chilled again. She apologized and said that was the offer. She didn't seem concerned when I said I would call customer service, so I did. Customer service took my details and gave me a reference number. After putting me on hold to call the front desk, the representative said nothing could be done before the manager arrived at 9 the next morning. I asked what I was supposed to do about dinner that night. He apologized, but said I would have to wait and speak to the manager, who might offer some compensation. I ended up ordering a meal to be delivered. Why didn't the hotel offer to arrange that? The reply to my complaint is completely false. The manager never inspected the food because it was thrown away before she came in at 9 a.m. It was a full fridge of food, not just a half-eaten meal. I hope she, her friends, or her family never have to trade places with me and experience that humiliation and injustice. An apology that isn't followed by “but” would go a long way. Stay away from Best Wester Bar Harbor in Massapequa New York, especially if you have Stage IV Metastatic Cancer.

The room was clean, and the front desk staff were friendly. The women handling breakfast deserve especially high praise, they were so helpful and kind. Our room's USB port didn't work, though, so I'd bring a plug for your electronics.
