Stoney Creek Hotel Peoria

Sue F does a wonderful job managing the breakfast rush. There’s plenty of clean food, and the service from everyone is excellent. Stoney Creek has a lovely upscale cabin feel and works well for conferences, weddings, and family reunions. I love staying here. The riverside location is perfect, and it’s not far from family when I’m visiting.

We couldn’t find another hotel that met our needs, so we stayed, but we’ll never come back and will share a public review. Check-in is listed as 3pm, and I’d said we’d arrive at 4pm. Flight delays meant we got there at 5:30pm, then waited until after 7pm for a room. Bar staff swore so much in front of families that it made everyone uncomfortable. The room was in very poor shape. The bottom sheet on the box springs was full of hair, dust, and lint, as if it hadn’t been changed in quite some time. The smoke detector hung from the ceiling by a wire, cords were pulled out of the living room TV, and the fridge top was filthy, with a shelf lying on it. We had only one partly used toilet paper roll, so we bought our own. The porch had cobwebs and dead insects, and we didn’t feel comfortable sitting out there. Cigarette butts and party trash were piled outside its door. The floors weren’t clean, there was debris on the carpets, the tub was dusty, and several light bulbs were out. We kept our shoes on. There was no privacy curtain for the porch, so people could see inside at night even with the shade down. Tape was left around the walls, and dust and cup rings on the tables made it clear they hadn’t been wiped in a while. The fireplace kept burning and wouldn’t turn off when the timer ran out.

We chose this as the one pricier stop on our cross-country trip, and it was worth it. We got a great room rate, and the staff at the desk and in the breakfast room were wonderful. Thanks, Sue F! Breakfast included scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausages, a pancake machine, and the usual cold and bakery options. We weren’t there for the pools, but they looked amazing, and the people using them seemed to be having a great time. The room and bathroom were clean, quiet, and had no bad smells. It was dog friendly, and the beds were comfortable for us. Pillow preferences are personal, but I’d suggest offering both firm and soft ones so guests can choose, as I’ve seen at a few other hotels. We’d recommend this to travelers looking for a nicer place to stay.

The room was clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the location was convenient and peaceful too. Sue does a great job at breakfast, and she’s so personable and cheerful. The staff were very accommodating face to face. The rule that all remote communication has to happen by email or text instead of a phone call was frustrating, and it worked inconsistently.
