Extended Stay America Suites Meadowlands East Rutherford

Marisol made check-in feel effortless. She was helping another guest at the same time, yet got both of us through quickly and was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. Great people skills and a lovely personality. She's the definition of hospitality, and if it were up to me she'd get a raise and promotion ASAP. Thanks, Marisol. The rooms are clean and spacious, and I like being able to cook my own meals. This is my new favorite hotel.

The one bright spot was Aaliyah, a very nice young woman who tried to help, but she didn't have support. Management could hear people complaining in the morning and stayed in the back instead of coming out. Our room had no towels, dishes, or soap, and the phone didn't work. The cooktop was broken, and there was no heat the first night. Just one problem after another, and I felt we should have been offered a discount or refund. At least it's right across from american Dream.

The front desk seemed available if needed, though I rarely saw anyone outside the office. Being beside the highway means constant trucks and traffic, and there's nothing within walking distance. I also saw people who appeared to be unhoused living here, with rooms set up like homes and a school bus dropping people off. That wasn't an issue for me, everyone deserves a place to live, but it did make me wonder whether the property gets the care it needs. This is an extended stay, yet basics like utensils and good Wi-Fi cost extra. The room was dirty and smelled bad. The concrete walls had splashes that looked like food, blood, or some other fluid, though they seem easy enough to wipe or mop.

We came with the kids to visit the great American dream mall, and the location was ideal, but I couldn't stay another night. The hallway smelled awful, and I didn't sleep at all. When we pulled back the sheets, someone else's hairs were all over the bed. The rooms were badly dated and dirty, with broken lamps and damaged window curtains. The stairs were filthy and the trash was overflowing. We had booked two nights, but I canceled the second one. I highly do not recommend this hotel.
