Comfort Inn & Suites Syracuse-Carrier Circle

I travel for work most of the year and first tried this new hotel brand in Virginia a few weeks ago. After joining its loyalty club, they matched my Marriott status. I’m in Syracuse for three straight weeks, and the Marriott and Hilton brand hotels nearby cost more than twice as much. My room is large, with a king bed, sitting area, desk, and TV. It’s clean, including the bathroom, and the staff are friendly. Free internet, parking, and breakfast too. I spent this past week here and have booked the next two. Great value for what you get.

The bed was really comfortable, and the shower worked well. I also liked the setup with a king bed and pull-out couch, which suited a couple traveling with a kid. The rest was a mixed bag. The building needs work, and the elevator was frightening: it ground and squealed, smelled like hot machinery, and jerked around. The hallways had a pungent smell, like strong air freshener laid over a stink. The bathroom was awkward, with the toilet tucked into a narrow alcove, toilet paper on one side and the wall right beside you on the other. There wasn’t a garbage can in the room, and housekeeping wasn’t available. We had to go to the desk each day for towels and bedding.

The bedding was clean and comfortable, and the room was acceptable for the price, though it could’ve been cleaner. I noticed dust in some corners. I was very impressed with the hotel and its services, especially the genuinely nice staff. The front desk and breakfast staff deserve recognition. I’ll be visiting again soon.

The room was comfortable and mostly clean. I spotted a few crumbs under the desk and the trash can hadn’t been wiped, but it was good overall. There’s a big gap beneath the room door, so you can hear conversations as you walk down the hall. Fortunately, the hallway noise didn’t carry through to the beds or disturb our sleep.
