The Atlantic Motel

Someone kept coming by and bothering us during the stay, even though they knew we had a baby. I understand renovations are going on, but they were constantly knocking on our door and debating whether we should move to the right room after they’d already put us in the one we stayed in. The trouble started with the reservation I’d called in the day before. Staff gave up trying to find it, then, when their boss showed it to them, told the boss I’d never mentioned a reservation or given my name. They also claimed I hadn’t said I was bringing my dog. There was no peace with someone constantly disturbing us.

The bathroom was so disgusting I couldn’t bring myself to shower, and it took two flushes to clear whatever had been left in the toilet. The bedroom carpet was sticky, and there was a cigarette burn in the quilt. The room itself was spacious, the building looked promising, and the receptionist was very helpful, but the price was much too high compared with the other hotels we stayed in.

We were in the room for less than an hour before leaving without staying. The towels were stained, the smell was awful, and the floors were so grimy we were afraid to take off our shoes. We paid $178 for a stay from 4 PM until 11 AM, which made leaving after that amount especially frustrating. When I raised my concerns with the manager, we weren’t offered another room, a partial refund, or anything. For your family’s sake, don’t stay here. Lesson learned.

The fridge and microwave were a plus, but the rooms were dirty, with dirt or algae on the walls, stains everywhere, wrinkled sheets, and filthy vent fans. The carpet looked dirty and had burn marks, and the stairs to the second floor felt unsafe. The place is outdated, and in my opinion it shouldn’t be listed as a two star or priced in the category it’s in. I understand people are trying to do a good job and that this location serves a purpose.
