La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Eastland

Simple breakfast, and lots of restaurants within walking distance. The room was good, with decent lighting and outlets. The shampoo bottles were very small, and the hot tub jets were weak, though the water did get warmer as it ran.

On my drive home to Houston, Texas, from California, I stayed here and found it very nice. The coffee was fantastic and breakfast was delicious. There was an older lady cleaning the breakfast area who was the sweetest, though I wish I’d gotten her name. Thank you!

We paid $146.22 and didn’t get a usable room, and they refused to refund me. I came to town for my uncle’s funeral on the 21st of this month. I’d stayed here years ago, so I was surprised by how things went. I arrived at 1:38pm and waited at the desk while a man spoke with the attendant. I later learned she was the manager, Charlene. They seemed to have had some kind of altercation, but I wasn’t paying much attention because my son was telling me how excited he was about the pool. When it was my turn, she didn’t greet me. I said hi and told her I had a reservation under my name. She just stared at me, then rudely said check-in was at 3. I thanked her and left. I drove around town with my son, showing him the lake, playground, and places I used to go as a kid. We came back at 4:13 pm and checked in with Harmony, who was very sweet. We were given room 323, but the door was open and the room was still dirty from the previous guest. There was Krispy Chicken food and cups on the tables, the beds weren’t made, and the sheets had brown stains. We didn’t have our luggage yet, so we went back downstairs and told Harmony. She said housekeeping had gone for the day and she’d send maintenance to clean it. We visited my aunt and returned at 7:30. The room was still dirty. Harmony apologized and said she’d get the maintenance man in ASAP. I told her we’d been on the road since 7am, were tired, and needed a shower, but could wait by the pool. The pool water was dirty, the pumps weren’t running, and the hot tub was broken. The water was so dirty you couldn’t see the bottom. I called my husband, who was shocked I’d been so passive, and told me to ask for another room or a refund and go elsewhere. I went back to the front desk. It was almost 8 and we were exhausted, so I said we needed a room. Harmony called the manager, Charlene. I could hear Charlene yelling through the phone from the other side of the counter. She said it didn’t matter if I had to wait until midnight, I wouldn’t get a refund if I checked out. Harmony explained we’d only gone into the room and back out, but Charlene didn’t care. I called corporate, got redirected to India, and couldn’t get anything accomplished. I emailed them too, but haven’t heard back so far. I checked out and stayed at the Best Western across the street instead. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Save yourself the headache.

The front desk employee was quick and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. We had a great stay and will definitely come back when we’re in Eastland.
