The room was spotless, even the toilet, which I’d planned to clean myself. It had a king bed, a roomy shower, a small kitchen area, and a spa tub in the living space. The hot water filled the tub without running out, though it got so hot I had to mix in cold water. The little freezer compartment kept my frozen greens frozen, and the fridge worked fine. The heater warmed the room to well over 80 degrees while we were out, apparently because we’d set it too high on a day when it was about 20 outside. The setup was nice, too. The bed was firm, maybe a little firmer than I’d prefer. It’s a quiet, pleasant motel. I think it’s listed as two stars, though I’d call it a nice 2.5-star place. Paducah is about 20 miles away, roughly a 35-minute drive. There are a few fast-food spots and a nearby Southern bar and grill with plenty of fried food, plus a small food mart almost next door and within walking distance. Service was the downside. The receptionist didn’t seem able to smile or speak warmly to anyone. I’d read reviews mentioning that, so it wasn’t a surprise. It’s a small town, maybe she was the best they could find. The room and its cleanliness still earned four stars from me.
