Comfort Inn Edgewater on Hudson River

We stayed here last weekend after having a trouble-free visit in 2023. We wanted another relaxing getaway in Edgewater, but this time the Wi-Fi barely worked and kept dropping on both our phones. My boyfriend couldn’t connect his Xbox, which has never been a problem for us at any hotel, and that was really annoying. The room itself was okay, but could have been cleaned better. The ice bucket lid was so dirty that a Lysol wipe picked up the dirt, so we didn’t use it for our ice. When we asked the night shift front desk person for extra towels and pillows, he wasn’t very pleasant and made it seem like a hassle. He said we’d have to come pick them up because nobody was available to bring them. That was fine, but the extra pillows didn’t have pillowcases. The Wi-Fi was the biggest inconvenience, and we won’t stay here again.

The room was comfortable and spacious. We were on the third floor and had a whirlpool in the room. You can get here from Manhattan on buses 158 or 188, so a car isn’t necessary. The breakfast area was the one thing I didn’t like: there isn’t much choice, and by 9 am there may not be much variety left. After booking online, I recommend calling the hotel to double-check your reservation.

The staff try hard to help, especially Neo at the front desk. Rooms are clean and practical, with a good-sized fridge and microwave, and there’s plenty of parking right out front. I recommend paying a little extra for a balcony room facing the river. Breakfast is basic but satisfactory. I can’t think of any negatives, and I’m looking forward to staying here on future visits. Best value in the NYC Metro area.

The cleaning staff did a perfect job and were always caring. I felt welcome from three people at reception and from all the cleaners, but the managers were a different story. One manager brings her loud dog to work and is always cursing loudly. They greet customers selectively, and I didn’t even get a simple “good morning” or eye contact. There was no laundry facility, despite what the hotels.com website said. The breakfast was limited and the same every day: a few kinds of scrambled eggs, bagels, toast, waffles, coffee, black tea, and some fruit, mostly ripe. It’s okay for a night or two, but I wouldn’t stay longer than two nights.
