The front desk person was super friendly and knew their stuff. I’d give the place 10/5 stars just because of him. MainStay, you should give him a raise. I’m already loving it and looking forward to a good night’s stay and an amazing breakfast tomorrow.
The room seemed clean and was quiet, with comfortable mattresses. It did have a damp, stuffy smell, kind of like wet laundry. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the woman running breakfast was great.
We had a great stay. The staff were wonderful, and breakfast was good, thanks to the chef.
The room was already being used. Our AC had gone out, so we’d spent a night in that room and were moving our things to another one. A man got angry, paced around checking the room for my belongings, got in my face, and kept yelling that the room didn’t belong to me, even though I had the key in my hand because I was still moving my things. I went straight to the phone and called Vanessa. She confirmed she’d told them I was moving my things and returning the laundry basket. The first maintenance man didn’t say anything or explain that he’d seen me in the room when he came to check the AC earlier. The man kept shouting at me. When I asked his name, he gave me one that I later found out was fake. I left the room and both men followed. He was still swearing on the phone and insulting the receptionist, saying she couldn’t do her job. I hurried downstairs, but somehow the two men got there first. The man said something to Vanessa that I couldn’t hear, and she started crying. She tried to explain the same thing I’d said, but he wouldn’t listen. Whoever he was speaking with on the phone may have told him to leave. He argued back and forth with that person and Vanessa. I told him he was unprofessional and disrespectful, and asked whether he was maintenance or the owner because of the way he was acting. He behaved as if he owned the place. Both men then walked out. I tried to calm Vanessa and apologized for the trouble I’d caused by asking to move rooms because the AC unit wasn’t working. She wiped her tears and said she was the one who was sorry, and that it wasn’t my fault because she’d been doing her job by accommodating me. I asked for the General Manager’s information and the name of the man who had treated me like a criminal, intimidated and harassed me, and cursed at both me and Vanessa. She gave me his name: OMAR. I turned in my key for the hot room to Vanessa and went to my room on the first floor, stunned by what had happened. About 45 minutes later, I went back to check on Vanessa, but an older woman had taken her place. I asked for the Choice Hotel number. She asked if everything was okay, and I told her it wasn’t and explained that I’d just moved because of the AC. Her expression changed and she asked what happened. As I started to explain, she cut me off and said I’d come there to argue with her. I was stunned because I was only answering her question. I told her I had the room key and that she could review the cameras to see what happened. Part 2
We stayed last night and had a wonderful night’s sleep. The bed was very comfortable, the front desk staff were friendly, and we enjoyed breakfast. The homemade salsa, potato and egg, and beans were delicious.
