The breakfast was just so-so, and the bedding wasn’t good, though the rooms were clean. The front room was nice and breezy, and the place is well appointed. Good location, but there’s a lot of traffic.

Diane at the front desk made the stay feel more like a bed and breakfast. She was so welcoming, keeping the food and drinks stocked, wiping tables, and checking people out. We had a large, very clean king suite with a comfortable bed, and the jacuzzi tub worked perfectly. The area felt very safe, too. Breakfast was as good as you can expect at a hotel, especially for such an affordable price. I’d stay again.
I’m leaving as soon as I can. The room smelled like old socks, the microwave didn’t work, and neither did the TV. The desk staff didn’t know how to fix it, and said the manager would be in at 10 pm. That’s way too late. Big pass.
Breakfast was good when we got there right at 6:30, though I’m not sure how it would have been closer to closing. The room was clean and the TV was huge, but the firm mattress kept me from sleeping well since I prefer something softer. The toilet seat was oddly smaller than it should’ve been, which made things a little cold, though the toilet still worked. Service was only three stars: we had to call for someone to come to the desk when we arrived, and nobody was there when we checked out in the morning. I’ve never stayed somewhere without someone regularly at the front desk. The area seemed safe, but I’d have liked visible security at the main entrance.
The breakfast was the only good part of our stay. We live nearby and booked a Jacuzzi room for our anniversary because I’ve had hip surgery and need another one, so I needed the tub. Its plug wouldn’t hold water, a drawer handle was broken so the drawer wouldn’t stay shut, and the lamp on the left side of the bed was broken and had no bulb. The woman who checked us in was very nice, as were the housekeepers and the employee who came to look at the plug. She put the old plug back and it still didn’t hold water, then brought a bulb even though the lamp couldn’t be switched on. We ended up buying a plug at Home Depot. I asked for some compensation for the first night because of the inconvenience, and the manager sent up a $25 Texas roadhouse gift certificate and $6 cash for the plug. The employee was kind, but the manager should’ve come to our room and spoken to us politely instead of sending someone else. At the front desk she called me a liar four times before sending the employee up. Her rudeness is why service still gets two stars. When we got home, we saw a double charge on our checking account. I called politely to sort it out, but she said it happens to everybody and we shouldn’t use a debit card, even though no one told us that at check-in. She said it should reverse and blamed the bank, then hung up and wouldn’t answer when I called back. I have videos of the issues I described, though I can only post pictures, and the coffee pot was dirty too. We will never go back. I live here and will tell people in Edwardsville and Granite City about this experience.
