National 9 Gillette

The bed was really comfortable, the shower had good pressure, and the TV had good channels. There’s a restaurant and small casino/lounge attached, too. Some things are dated, sure, but I’d have no problem staying at this National 9 whenever I’m in Gillette. Highly recommend.

The breakfast was better than plenty of high-end hotel breakfasts: fresh waffle batter, fruit, oatmeal, juices, all of it. The staff are incredibly kind, and they seem to make sure people who might cause trouble don’t stay here. I felt safe and would recommend it for the price. I’ve been here over a week, and they always respected my do not disturb sign. On cleaning day Amy did an incredible job. She moved my shoes out of the way and put them back in sensible spots, deep cleaned the bathroom, and left the room impeccable. She even left the microwave bowl I’d put in the sink alone. I really appreciated the care she took. Amazing staff. I’ll stay again. :)

Workers and people passing through seem to be the main guests here. The lobby smells like cigarette smoke, though my room didn’t. The facilities are worn, but the room was quiet and the bed was comfortable and clean. The outdoor pool is a bonus, the lobby coffee is strong and good, and the rates make this an excellent value.

The room was dingy, and the hallways were too, but for one cheap night on a road trip, it did the job. It’s a budget hotel, so I got about what I expected. The Roku TV and its many subscriptions were a nice surprise. What made me stop and write this was the staff. The front desk attendant was friendly and welcoming. A few days after I got home to Minnesota, I realized I’d left my Fitbit in the room. I called five days after checkout, expecting it to be gone. The woman who answered checked around and found it, then mailed it without asking me to cover postage. Someone even texted me the routing number for the package. They went out of their way to return it, and I’m grateful. Thanks to the team! I also liked all the plants by the front entrance.
