The Shallows Resort

The pool area was awesome, and there were two fire pit spots to enjoy at night. Lori and her staff were very nice and kept the property extremely clean. It was a wonderfully relaxing vacation at The Shallows Resort, with Lake Michigan right out the back door, beautiful sunsets, and a wooded area. Egg Harbor was only a five-minute drive. We'll be back next year for a longer stay. Thanks for a great time!

I was a repeat customer for years, but after this, I won't give The Shallows my business again or recommend it to friends or family. I think they chose a few hundred dollars over years and thousands of dollars in business. This kind of behavior from a business should be avoided at all costs. Be very wary about paying a deposit or anything upfront, or letting them keep your credit card on file. I spotted a charge on my statement and thought it would be a simple fix. When I called to dispute it and ask for a refund, I was told I was a no-call, no-show. I told Lori at the front desk that we'd had a long conversation over a couple of days about my family not coming because of a death in the family. Instead of refunding the later charge, they refunded the deposit because it was the smaller amount. I left a voicemail saying I'd been charged incorrectly, but got no callback. I also emailed and received no response.

Waking up with coffee, sitting in a comfortable chair, and listening to the waves hit the shoreline was so relaxing. The sunsets were beautiful, and the fire pits were always available. From making our reservation through checkout, everything went perfectly during our short three-day getaway at The Shallows Resort. Lori, who took the booking and welcomed us, was great and suggested lovely spots for breakfast and dinner, along with sights to see. The owner was sociable and very nice, and made what I think were the best cinnamon rolls we've ever had. We'll definitely return very soon. We highly, highly recommend it.

Clean, comfortable rooms and the friendliest owner. In the morning there are warm cinnamon rolls and coffee or tea, and you might get a cuddle from Charlie, the resident dog. You can use kayaks and canoes, swim in the pool or hot tub, or play tennis, pickleball, basketball, or shuffleboard. Then there are fire pits for the evening and beautiful sunsets. Highly recommend.
