We pulled in for the night after a rough storm caught us while traveling through south Texas. The place was cozy, and the rooms looked recently remodeled. Breakfast was really good, and the front desk staff were attentive and so nice. I’d definitely stay again.
The room was fine and the bed was comfortable, but breakfast was disappointing. There was only one cereal, juice bottles for sale, and bread for toast, and the waffle maker wasn’t ready. My dad thought the coffee was awful, so we stopped at McDonald’s after checking out. We were heading home from North Dakota and stayed here overnight at the end of May. Having had good stays at other Wyndham properties, we were surprised this one was part of the chain.
We picked this place for a three-day weekend with the kids while our kitchen was being rewired, and it turned into a terrible stay. The indoor pool was a big part of the ad, but when we arrived we were told it was closed for the season. The breakfast buffet was just stale cereal and toast, and I found a bed bug in the bathroom. The only thing this hotel seems to have over the motels nearby is vermin. The room wasn’t clean either. Walking barefoot, my feet crunched on dirty tile, the bedding was stained, and the place looked like it hadn’t been dusted in weeks. They also put a $50 hold on my card on top of the payment without telling me. When I asked, I got a vague explanation that it was a deposit. Hotel.com hadn’t said this was standard practice. If I hadn’t had enough money in my account, they could have canceled my reservation and charged me for it.
We had a really nice two-night weekend here. The motel is small and cute, the rooms were very clean, and the price felt right. The staff were polite and professional.
I was nervous about traveling alone with my kids for the first time, but I felt safe and comfortable here. The place was clean, quiet, and peaceful, and the bed was comfortable. It’s not fancy, but it met everything we needed. The door was a bit hard to open, though I was glad my little one couldn’t easily sneak out. The young man at the desk was kind, helpful, and courteous. The attached Mexican restaurant in the recreation building was perfect. Breakfast was basic, but there was something for everyone in our group, and the coffee was great.
