Super 8 by Wyndham El Dorado

We checked in an hour late, and the first room we were given wasn’t even ready. They moved us to a room with lots of problems, so I can only assume they’re all like that. None of the remotes worked properly, the outlets were badly placed and barely worked, and the desk man tried to kick us out three hours and one minute early. The room was dirty, with dog hair on the beds and dirty blankets and towels. The pictures didn’t match what we got. Breakfast was bad too: stale cereal, expired apples, warm apple juice that tasted like alcohol, cold food, and warm drinks. The front desk people couldn’t understand us when we spoke English. A really bad experience.

There were makeup and oil stains on the sheet beneath the blanket, and the room was filthy. Customer service was terrible, and even the vending machine didn’t work. They refused to refund me because I didn’t notice the bed’s condition until a couple of hours later, when I was about to sleep. I spent more money to go to a better hotel down the road, which was much cleaner and more welcoming. If I could give Super 8 zero stars for cleanliness and customer service, I would.

The room needed maintenance, and the floor needed sweeping and mopping. The soap dispensers were there but empty. A note on the bathroom mirror said towels would be changed every three days, but during my two-week stay they were changed only once. The desk clerk charged me $497 for the first week. I booked the second week on the Wyndham app for $363. Both bookings required a $50 deposit. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless it were an emergency.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had good water flow. Breakfast was just coffee, waffles, cereal, and a banana. I was surprised when someone knocked at 10:00 am to remind me that checkout was at 11:00.
