DoubleTree by Hilton LAX - El Segundo

The room was good, the bed was nice, and the staff were easy to deal with. My only issue was the airport shuttle. It doesn't start until 6am, which limits how many flights you can catch on time. Our flight was at 7am, and they wanted us to pay to use the shuttle earlier, so we took an Uber instead.

We stayed for a week, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The bar had a good vibe in particular. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, but a very bad smell came through every now and then. The hotel also looked a bit outdated, and for most of our stay only one elevator was working. It's a short walk to the metro, and there's an airport shuttle. The breakfast buffet was a bit pricey, though the food was good overall.

The hotel and rooms were clean and nice, but two serious problems left me unable to recommend it. At check-in, they offered complimentary cookies without saying they contained walnuts. I have a nut allergy and took a bite before I knew. My tongue felt uncomfortable, and fortunately the reaction didn't become more severe. That was genuinely dangerous. We also paid for a scheduled private airport transfer, but nobody told us the car would stop at another hotel to collect more passengers. We paid for a private ride, not a shared shuttle. The lack of transparency in both situations is a real problem that management needs to address.

My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in LA and stayed at the Double Tree LAX- El Segundo. The hotel was clean, our room was wonderful, and breakfast was so good. We also got wings and fries from the restaurant, and those were delicious. The front desk team, J, Michelle and Val, were very friendly and helpful. Kudos to them. I'll be back to Cali in the future and plan to stay here again. Try the "Doubletree" LAX, it's the BOMB!
