I went to Louisville, KY to see my brother, who I hadn’t seen in about 15 years. He works a lot, so I took a chance near the site of America’s most famous horse race. There wasn’t a casino there, but one was right next door in Indiana, so I took an Uber over. I had a couple of drinks, played the slots, then asked about going outside to smoke. The bartender was amazing and showed me the outdoor smoking spot. From my balcony, that was the view. A little piece of heaven on earth. I had an absolutely amazing time and won.

The casino did a great job with this area. There are several rows of really nice leather reclining chairs, all facing a theater-sized wall that’s been turned into a screen showing multiple channels at once.

Casinos are all about trading your cash from your hand to theirs. Walk in, pick any machine, and then you’ll either win or lose. I hit some good ones tonight.

I’m not coming back. The beds are uncomfortable, and even the non-smoking areas smell of smoke and weed. The casino machines have several problems, from not taking bills to broken screens and being out of service, and nobody seems willing to help. I press the service button and no one shows up, no matter how long I wait. The hotel itself is fine.

When they’re working, say hi to John and Jennifer at the Circle bar or back bar. They’re the two best bartenders, with excellent service, five plus stars.
