Bayfront Inn at the Waterfront

The bed was comfortable, and the room was very affordable, though tiny. The owner who checked me in was friendly, and the waterfront is an easy walk away. There’s no air conditioning, so I had the window open. People in the courtyard were noisy for quite a while and kept me awake.

The view from the second-floor rooms of the rock and bay is really nice. It’s an older, dated place, so you can hear through the walls and every door slam, but it was clean and comfortable. I never saw anyone in the office, though there were instructions for checking in. The booking policy has the information you need if you read it. Reasonably priced, and I’d definitely visit again.

The property has plenty of charm, and the staff were kind and friendly. We stayed several nights and had a fantastic time. The rooms are small, or maybe cozy, but worth it for the price. You can walk to just about anything you might want, and I’d return in a heartbeat.

I contacted Morro Bay PD to walk through the room and hand over the keys because I no longer felt safe and didn’t trust the owner not to invent damage claims. I’m a 36-year-old local business owner from Cambria, and this was meant to be a short staycation. If I hadn’t been from the area, I could have been stranded. It felt like the hotel takes advantage of guests who don’t know the area, and the lack of basic safety measures, like a working smoke alarm, is unacceptable. At 8 a.m. during my stay, the owner wouldn’t let me back into my room because he didn’t recognize me. He then tried to get more money out of me for a pet fee I’d already paid and wouldn’t let me collect my belongings. When he realized his mistake, he didn’t apologize and at first refused to refund my second night. Later, he walked past my window, leaned inside, and accused me of taking a missing smoke alarm, which I’d previously flagged to him as a safety issue. He also made a discriminatory comment: “I know you people.” Please avoid this hotel for your own safety. Don’t give this place your money. I really wish someone had warned me.
