Sheraton Suites Chicago Elk Grove

The staff and housekeeping were friendly and helped my family and me with what we needed. The rest of the stay was rough. Our bed squeaked loudly every time we moved and was very uncomfortable. I wouldn't have guests sleep on it for what they charge for a king room. The internet was unreliable on the sixth floor, and the heating and AC were hard to regulate, so at night we had to open the window because the room got too hot. In the pool area, the ceiling was actively crumbling and the water temperature wasn't comfortable. The building also needs a lot of repair, with trash piled outside the entrance and only one elevator working besides the service elevator. Breakfast costs extra and should be included in the room price. The eggs were sometimes discolored; the potatoes were either over-spiced or bland, and one morning they were so overcooked they were just shells. The fruit was either fresh or smelled and tasted sour. I wouldn't stay here again, though I appreciated the staff because they were the only good thing I can say about it.

The room was decent and very clean, though the furnishings and sink looked dated. The toilet tank kept running, which was a nuisance. The front desk staff came across as cold and unwelcoming. There's a club lounge, but its breakfast was cold and had no eggs. For eggs, you have to go to the lobby restaurant, using 1,000 points or paying for the standard buffet. Made-to-order eggs cost extra. The property feels like it needs updates and maintenance.

Traveling with our two pets, we appreciated the hotel’s location just off the interstate, tucked into a business park with ponds and grassy areas. The room was clean and had what we needed, though it was a bit tight, with the two double beds almost touching the side walls. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the Starbucks coffee in the room was tasty and convenient. We were satisfied with the stay.

The staff were the only good part of a bad stay. The rooms are old and smelly, and in winter the AC doesn't work, only the heater. My room got really hot, so I called the front desk. Someone came up and explained that during winter they only have the heater on. I couldn't sleep. A really bad experience.
