Baymont Inn & Suites Provo River

I called to ask for their website so I could book directly, and was told they didn't have one. They said I could use any major booking site or give a credit card over the phone, which felt odd. The place works well if all you need is an inexpensive, quiet room with a locked door and a pet-friendly policy. But if you want a clean tub, no hair in the sink, or a comfortable mattress, look elsewhere.

There was no breakfast, either. I paid for a place to shower, charge up, and rest while traveling, and for that it worked, but I'd avoid it if I had a real choice and money weren't an issue. The bed felt comfortable until I noticed black spots on the linens. I pulled back the covers, slept in my sleeping bag, and used my own camping pillow. The desk chair was shredded, the furniture was disgusting, and there was a musty smell in the room. Paint was peeling off the bathtub into the drain, and the bathroom ceiling looked like it had mildew or mold. I showered in sandals. At check-in, the front desk agent spent more than ten minutes commenting on how strange my name was while I stayed quiet. I can't tell whether the hotel was simply rough that week or the front desk man gave me the worst room on purpose. For the price, it served its basic purpose, but I wouldn't choose to stay again.

We were so disappointed that we left, and we did receive our money back. They made the hotel sound wonderful on the phone, but the moment we walked in, there was a bad smell. Opening the room door made us feel like we were going to throw up. It was a terrible experience.

The location is the only thing this place has going for it, with plenty nearby. My room smelled awful. I complained and was given a spray bottle of air freshener to use myself. Spraying the whole room and carpet reduced the odor, but it never disappeared. I asked every day to move rooms or get a discount, and was told to speak with a manager who was supposedly coming in later, but the manager never showed up. The pool was said to be closed for remodeling, though it was just grossly unkept. There was no construction, and none of the booking sites or even the hotel's own site mentioned the closure.
