Hampton Inn Elkhart IN

I’ve stayed here hundreds of times, but after this visit I won’t come back. I chose the hotel hoping to relax in the hot tub and get some relief for my back. It wasn’t working, though repairs weren’t mentioned on the website or when I checked in. I’d stayed away for a year because of a life change, and the tub had already been broken then, with the website saying so. On the evening of January 9, I took off my diamond and white gold earrings and left them on the desk lamp base because it was black and I thought they wouldn’t get knocked off. My sister-in-law and I went downstairs, only to find the hot tub closed for repairs. Back in the room, I realized the door didn’t lock, even though I’d been there for two days. A front desk employee came up and said she could see on camera that the door wasn’t closing. She moved us from room 228 to room 224, and we rushed to move our things. I was upset that the room had been left open for two days, and she said it was supposed to have been fixed. In the rush, I left my earrings behind. I didn’t notice until Sunday the 11th, while driving home, and called immediately. The woman went up to check, but said the manager and the housekeeper who cleaned room 228 weren’t there, and asked me to call back. When I spoke with a manager, I was told the earrings hadn’t been found. I said one of us was lying and it wasn’t me, which offended her. I never got them back. Disgusted, and I’ll never stay here again.

We picked this hotel for a long weekend around a boxing match, partly because the pool was open. The rooms were clean and adequate, with a fridge and microwave, and breakfast was good. Check-in and checkout were easy. The jacuzzi was closed, though, and the traffic and slamming doors were noisy from 5:30 each morning. Housekeeping tried to come at 8 on Sunday, but putting the sign on the door fixed that.

Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. My room was spacious, very clean, and well cared for. I really enjoyed the stay and will definitely come back. Thank you so much! 🤗

Of the hotels we’ve stayed at in Elkhart, this is definitely the best. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were lovely and helpful.
