The price was fair and the stay was decent. The room stayed too bright at night because the curtains let in some of the outside lights, which made it hard to sleep.

The price was right, and the service was kind and professional. The rooms were clean, too. I’d recommend Elkin Inn to anyone and will stay there whenever I’m in the city.

After driving more than 10 hours, I wanted somewhere to sleep, and for the price, this place did the job. I saw a family of deer across the street, which was a lovely sight for someone from Tampa Bay FL, where we rarely see them. The gentleman in the office was kind and hardworking, moving between cleaning, laundry, and office duties. I think the place may be under new management or being revamped, since I didn’t have the problems mentioned in some other reviews. It was very quiet, with no yelling, arguments, or other disruptions. The TV worked fine, with over 900 stations to choose from. The building has a lot of history, and you can smell and see it. First thing I did was inspect the bed thoroughly, even lifting the mattress to check the seams and box spring. No bed bugs found in RM 101.

On our first stay, the TV didn’t work in the original room, and more importantly, neither did the AC. We were moved, but the TV still didn’t work there. The AC sort of worked, though it seemed locked at 72 degrees, or maybe 74, so the room stayed humid. There were bugs in the rooms, too. We booked again for some reason, and my wife paid with her card at check-in. When we got home, they had also charged the card on file. They did issue a refund, but it didn’t cover the full amount. Between that, the broken TVs and AC, and how difficult it was to get basic help, the whole vibe felt shady. We didn’t think it was worth fighting to get the difference back. We try to be easygoing and make the best of things, but this was too much. We won’t be back. If you’re considering staying here, check out other options first, since we felt the chance of a bad visit was high.
