Tygart Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

I had to leave suddenly at 3pm on my second day, and the hotel let me cancel without blinking. That was one more reason I was so pleased with the place. It was clean, the rooms were very nice, and the staff were amazing. I traveled to Elkins to be near Davis, and sadly, Elkins has zero to offer and feels desperately depressing. This hotel was a star in the dark, far better than the rest of the town needs to be. The restaurant served the worst steak of my life, though I think it was a fluke since the rest of the food was great. The cost was extremely reasonable. I'd have paid 35% more than I did.

We drove here from the DMV for a night before skiing at Timberline Mountain. The roads were all cleared of ice and snow, so the drive was easy. Our stay was comfortable and very affordable. We had a tasty dinner at the hotel bar, and the front desk sells lift tickets for $79 if you're planning to ski.

Such a beautiful hotel, with elegant Christmas decorations. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the little extras really matter: fresh-baked cookies at the front desk, coffee and water available all day, and a beautifully presented breakfast buffet. I'd definitely stay again.

We've stayed here twice in winter, the first night last year and again recently, and it's become our favorite place for a SnowShoe ski trip when ski-in, ski-out hotels aren't available or are insanely expensive. It's an hour away, but the price is unbelievable. So is the breakfast, with lots of hot and cold options. There's a great restaurant onsite, the room was very clean, and the staff were very friendly.
