Super 8 by Wyndham Elko

The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean, and the shower had great hot water pressure. There was truck and trailer parking, and several restaurants within walking distance. The area was quiet, with Elko city hall next door, and the lobby coffee machine was available 24/7, including decaf. My only issue was the TV remote: it controlled the DirectTV box but wasn't programmed for the TV's power or volume, a small inconvenience. The motel meets all my requirements, and I'll stay again. I nearly skipped booking because the Google reviews were so negative. Don't expect the Hilton or Marriott experience. My room was clean, though the hall smelled of bleach and cleaning products. The carpet and furnishings are showing their age, as is common with budget accommodations.

The place is run down, and I wouldn't recommend it. The laundry machines didn't work, the WiFi barely worked or didn't work at all, and the toilets didn't flush properly. It wasn't just my room, either. They didn't clean the rooms during our stay, so I cleaned mine myself. The food was horrible and wouldn't pass a health inspection.

I couldn't get anyone at the hotel to explain how to use the TV. The place was dirty and the staff were very rude, and the manager never returned my call when I tried to talk to them. Someone should check the place's health conditions. It used to be a good place, but I'll never go back.

Richie was the gold star of the hotel. He went above and beyond to help us, and the desk clerk was accommodating too. The clerk offered a full refund when we found out that the online booking details were wrong, but we stayed because finding another hotel that late in the day was nearly impossible. One of us ended up sleeping on the floor. We'd requested two queen beds and a sofa sleeper, and were told that room was available. I also asked if there was an elevator and was told yes. At check-in, none of that was available: our room had two beds and there was no elevator. The room was clean, but the bathroom was in disrepair, with a broken toilet paper holder, broken shower valve and curtain, and too few linens. The desk clerk supplied the linens when we asked. Breakfast was just biscuits and gravy from a crock pot, raisin bread, generic cereal, and muffins. That wasn't what we expected from a quality chain hotel. I stayed here six years ago and it was awesome, so much so that we called it the Superb 8. Sadly, not anymore.
