La Quinta Inn & Suites Newark - Elkton

The location was perfect, close to lots of things, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was a highlight, with eggs, sausage, waffles, fresh fruit, and plenty of variety. The hotel was impressively clean, and you could see staff maintaining it throughout the day. Our stay exceeded expectations. Highly recommended!

I was told pets are only allowed on the first and second floors, but I ended up on the fourth with a decent-sized dog right next door. I don't like sleeping in beds where animals sleep. I spent one night and things were generally okay, but that's why I'm giving one star.

The rooms are nice and roomy, and I enjoyed my business trip stay. It was nice coming back each day to a clean room with fresh linens, even though I hadn't left a mess. Getting an Uber every day was difficult, but that's not the hotel's fault. My second week went well overall, though I was moved to a different room. The toilet there needed a jiggle every time I flushed, and the hot water whistled loudly when I showered. That was annoying, so I'd give the second week only 3.5 stars.

We've stayed here many times and were always comfortable. That changed on November 28, 2025. I used to leave my pocketbook in the room with our luggage while we went to breakfast. This time, after breakfast we drove for three hours without stopping. At a rest area I opened my pocketbook and found my wallet missing. We filed a police report right away. Someone tried to use all six of my credit cards, but the transactions looked suspicious and the banks' fraud units contacted me. The cash loss of $70 was minor compared with losing my driver's license, Medicare and insurance cards, and personal sentimental items. Jamal at the front desk was very helpful when we called. Eventually we spoke with the manager, Mr. Patel, who wasn't helpful at all. He admitted the housekeeper entered our room, but said she had worked there fifteen years and he had to defend her. We told him we would never stay again. In response to the manager's post, I'm adding that he did admit to us that the housekeeping staff member had gone into the room. Now he's changing the facts to cover himself. Never again. Beware and don't leave anything of value in your room.
