The Villas at Coosawattee River Resort

We enjoyed this lovely cabin right by the river and plan to return when the weather is sunny. I wouldn't recommend coming during snowfall, though. The mountain roads get really treacherous, and at night it's easy to get completely lost.

The villa was right on the river, which was great, and being close to Ellijay was nice. Getting out of the development still took a long time because of all the winding roads inside it. I'd only consider coming back for a deeply discounted event at a time that worked for us. This didn't feel like a resort to me. It's a residential development with cabins, villas, and rental units, plus activities and neighborhood pools at several spots. The pools aren't conveniently located for most units, only a select few. Our villa also had several broken, worn, and outdated things that needed replacing. It wasn't properly cleaned or set up either, and management blamed the third-party vendor.

The place was beautiful, clean, and felt secure, and the food was excellent. The accommodation was cheap, too. But getting to the cabin the first time was really complicated. Our key didn't work, and it took over an hour to sort out. There wasn't enough hot water for everyone, and the old TVs couldn't play Netflix or Hulu. The Wi-Fi never worked, and when I called, nobody answered.

We were told months before check-in that I have a disability, with screws and rods in my back and a bad knee, but the condo had 22 steps to climb. My best friend, who lives nearby, and her son had to wait and help me carry my luggage up. I wanted a mountain cabin from Florida, but got a condo by the river instead. There's plenty of water where I live. The gas fireplace also scared me, since I wanted wood-burning, and it didn't work anyway, so we had to keep it shut. All of this had been mentioned months ahead of arrival. Never again. I'll call Blue Sky cabin rentals next time.
