The hallways smelled like long-term tenants and whatever people were cooking in their rooms, and our room had an odd odor we couldn’t quite identify. The stairway had some sticky liquid spilled on it that you’d keep picking up with each step unless you scraped it off before going into your room. Hall carpet and walls were scuffed and dirty too. We’d spent a week looking at properties to buy in the area and booked two nights at Days Inn in Ponderay, ID because all the other hotels were sold out. The dated exterior gave us low expectations, and the inside didn’t change that impression. A sign said the laundry was “temporarily” out of order, and another said the advertised hot tub was temporarily closed. Judging by how those areas looked, they hadn’t been used by the public in quite some time. That was discouraging. My husband had been looking forward to the hot tub, and I’d hoped to do a couple of loads of laundry. The place felt like a large family had moved into much of the hotel and let it go. Come on, Wyndham, do you not check your staff or facilities? Pretty sad. This is enough to make me never stay at a Days Inn or Wyndham again.

We were traveling with our kids from Canada to Seattle and stopped here for the night. The room next door had a couple fighting and throwing things around all night, so we couldn’t sleep. Then, in the middle of the night, the phone rang and nobody said anything. I mentioned it to reception in the morning, and they said it was a missed dial. I’d booked after seeing breakfast offered, but there were very few choices and it wasn’t worth it. A nightmare stay. If you can avoid this place, do so.

My wife got locked out of our room in the middle of the night after going to the lobby vending machine for a soda. I was sound asleep, but the night clerk came right away and helped her get back in. We really appreciated it. The staff were caring, calm, and ready to help.

The owner stopped by to talk with me about the continental breakfast and ask if I thought anything could be done to improve it. It was already very good! The staff were friendly, the rooms were very clean and affordable, and we had our dog with us. They waived the pet fee for the second night. We stayed two days and highly recommend the property. It’s centrally located.

Inside, the room looked nice and had some nice decor, and the staff were pleasant. The bed was okay, but the bathroom was tiny and its door blocked the sink. Hot water took forever to warm up for a shower, the repairs around the room were poor, and you had to force the door shut. The whole place still felt like a hotel to avoid from the start. The building looked run down, and the parking lot was partly gravel and not very good. You can’t put lipstick on a pig. The curry smell hit immediately and filled the hotel the whole time we were there. The hot tub was broken. There were rooms up and down the hallway without handles, and the back entrance doors had no latches or locks. After 10pm, it turned out they were secured with a padlock. Very illegal, and no longer a fire escape. I’ll let the fire marshal know. There was only one small vending machine, the upstairs one was broken, and the ice machine was broken too. Breakfast was okay, but only warm, not hot. A terrible place to stay. I won’t come back or recommend it. If I’d had time to find another hotel, I would have.
