We’ve stayed in a range of rooms at the Montauk Manor over the years, and especially love the ground-floor ones with patios facing the water. The old Tudor character, fireplaces, and immaculate grounds make arriving feel special. Everyone is friendly, and the front desk is always accommodating. The shuttle drivers, Miguel and Elias, are especially warm and welcoming.

The staff members I met were pleasant, but room 142 was a dump. There was hair in the bathtub when we arrived, the carpet was gross, the room smelled, and the walls and blinds were dirty and dusty. I also found a stained ceiling tile, water rings on the nightstands, crumbs on the table, dirty refrigerator handles, and mold in the bathroom grout. The shower drain was slow, which I complained about. They offered to fix it, but I didn’t want maintenance taking up my time. I had to get and exchange our own towels, and the ironing board cover was stained, so I had to put a clean towel over it. They had no replacement cover. Some rooms looked nice as we passed, with flooring and good bedding, but ours was nothing like that. We paid over $600 for two nights and left unhappy. Please refund us so I can at least update my review to say you’re trying. And don’t message me promising a better next stay, because I’m not coming back.

The meal at Monte's At The Manor was perfect, and so was the stay. Nora took care of my reservations and many questions, while Donna and Michelle handled the reason for our visit with great care. Chaz also went out of his way to make sure the room worked for us. Everything we needed was taken care of, and the people involved in our work felt completely at ease. Many thanks to all the staff, including those whose names I didn’t get.

Our room had a terrific terrace looking out over the water, plus a kitchenette, a little dining area, and a living room. It was a well-equipped two-bedroom, two-bathroom place, with a loft upstairs and three big skylights that let in loads of light. The small couch could use a cleaning, but everything else was great. Perched on a hill, the Montauk Manor feels majestic, full of history and character, with an old-world air that brought to mind a grand English country manor or a Swiss resort.

The room was simple but nice, though I wish it had blackout blinds. Since the rooms are condos owned by different people, others may be different. There’s a vending machine, but a grab-and-go shop and coffee service would be useful. The place seemed a little understaffed, though maybe that was just the off-season. It felt somewhat pricey for that time of year, but I’d come back if I found a deal, and would like to see it in summer. This historic hotel sits on a bluff above the sea and has Grand Budapest vibes. I visited in the off-season, when it felt quiet and sleepy, which I liked. There’s a restaurant and bar, but they seemed closed then. A shuttle can take you around town, and the train station is a short walk away. Uber is available in town, though Uber Eats didn’t seem to operate here. I’d recommend bringing a car or your own food. There wasn’t much lighting or any sidewalks, so I wouldn’t walk around the area at night.
