The inn's fireplace lounge was just what we needed, with drinks and a comfortable spot to sit and visit. Breakfast was divine, and the locally roasted St.Louis coffee was delicious too. The couple who run the place clearly care about making guests comfortable, from the quality of the rooms and food to the extra effort they put in. They were especially careful preparing food for my allergies once they knew about them. Elsah is a charming historic village, with its own story, a restaurant, and a shop selling local art and fair trade goods from around the world. A real find for a few days away.

Fresh, warm cookies were waiting when we checked in, and breakfast each morning was phenomenal. My friends and I had a great time at this charming little B&B in a tiny town with just two streets. The owners were so friendly and welcoming, and they made the whole stay feel special. We had such a good experience that we plan to come back every year when we visit Elsa.

The owners felt more like good neighbors than innkeepers, and we had a great time. My wife and I spent two nights here, a peaceful break from the usual routine and a handy base for visiting the Grafton or Alton area. Breakfast was filling and different from the usual, and the gourmet coffee was so good I wanted another cup. We'd happily stay here again. Tom & Barb

The breakfast was phenomenal, and I still find myself thinking about those breakfast bites. My sister, a friend, and I stayed here while attending an event in a nearby town, and I felt at home from the start. It's the coziest, most welcoming B&B I've been to. The new owners, Megan and Calvin, are doing a fantastic job. If you're staying near Grafton, Elsah is only a short drive away, so consider The Green Tree Inn.

I stayed at the Green Tree from 7/25 - 7/27/25 and would happily come back. The room was welcoming and comfortable, and I slept well both nights. Connie and Gary are very nice, and her breakfasts were great. The afternoon sweets were amazing too. The breakfast common room is a relaxing place to spend the morning, and the gift shop has homemade goods. I bought the bread & butter pickles and peach preserves.
