The owner went out of his way to get us checked in at 4am after our flight was delayed. The rooms were better than I expected at this nice little hotel in a small town. It's in a great spot if you're headed to Minnesota North or the Boy Scout Base Camp. I'd recommend it and stay again.

For the price, cleanliness, and professional, helpful service, this place earns its rating. It's not a 4 or 5 star establishment. The breakfast was sparse but doable, though the eggs were the oddest I've seen. Hallway carpets could use cleaning, and there was only a thin sliver of soap, with no shampoo or body wash. Still, the bathroom was spotless and there were plenty of clean towels. The bedding was clean, blackout curtains worked well, the AC was good, and it was quiet. We would absolutely stay again. No pets and no smoking were a plus for us.

Our room had two queen beds, a sink outside the bathroom, TV, microwave, mini fridge, and a desk with two chairs. It was roomy enough, and the staff were friendly, kept breakfast stocked, and tidied our room each morning. The place was clean and reasonably priced, with a free hot breakfast every day. We stayed three nights and got the same breakfast each morning, so I wish there'd been more variety. Our street-facing room also got some traffic noise. The beds weren't terrible, but they weren't great and could use updating. A few sugar ants showed up each morning and night, around the sink, alarm clock, and AC, though thankfully none were in the bed or anything worse. For the area, the price was reasonable. I'd have given it four stars with more comfortable beds, breakfast variety, and no ants.

The owners were really nice and friendly, and helped us out when we were in a pinch. The hotel and rooms were clean, and it's well located in town. It looked updated throughout. I'd stay here again.

I travel often for work and usually stay in higher-end places that cost $450-750 a night, depending on the city. This isn't that kind of hotel, and it's Ely, MN, so it shouldn't be compared like-for-like. What stood out was how clean and well maintained everything was. I felt safe, the AC worked, there was plenty of hot water in the shower, and management were friendly and cheerful. I've paid more for places in Ely with more amenities, and they weren't nearly as clean. I'd stay here again, 10 out of 10.
