Knights Inn Elyria

The room was disgusting. There was food or who knows what on the walls, dust hanging from the lampshades, and a very happy spider behind the toilet. After arriving past midnight, we fell into bed. In the morning we tried to shower, but the tub filled up because the shower wouldn’t drain. We could flush the toilet just once, then wait hours for the tank to refill. The woman at reception said she could have put us in the handicapped room if we’d mentioned it the night before. I’m sure that room was much better.

Not the cleanest room when I first walked in, but I asked for maid service the next morning and got it. Elizabeth spent some time cleaning it the way it should have been, which was great and made the rest of my stay a lot more comfortable. For a cheap motel, not seeing roaches or bedbugs was a big plus.

If you need a room quickly, this place can work. It’s right by the highway and turnpike, with several gas stations nearby, and the rooms are spacious. The weekly rate isn’t bad for my situation, since I’m not from here and don’t have credit to rent an apartment. It’s not in great condition, though the owner told me repairs are underway, and the place badly needs upgrading. Lobby service has been very polite, and I’m enjoying my stay in room 217.

The staff were great and the room wasn’t in bad shape, apart from the heater, but it wasn’t a peaceful stay. People were up all night and the walls are paper thin. Our heater was either blasting at 90° or off, and it got hard to breathe when it was on. The seals around the heater and door should be repaired too. Being near Lake Erie, the wind comes right through them, so they need to be set up properly for those lake effect winds.
