Four Points by Sheraton San Francisco Bay Bridge

The corner room on the sixth floor was spacious, with a little fridge, a microwave, and a balcony looking toward Emeryville on one side and San Francisco on the other. The bed was comfortable, the staff at check-in were pleasant, and Bay St. Mall is an easy walk. We were uneasy about the unsecured parking lot, but our car was fine when we checked out. The TV did switch itself off randomly, though that was tolerable. The serious problem was the stairwell access. One elevator was already out when we arrived, and by checkout both were down, so we had to take the stairs and come out into the parking lot. We had only stayed one night and had little luggage, but I worried about older guests, people with bags, and anyone unable to use stairs. At the exit, an unlocked door gave direct access to every floor of rooms, with just a paper sign telling people to use the stairwell. That felt very unsafe. The decent stay, views, comfort, and location would have earned five stars from me, but the unlocked doors bring it down to two.

The road noise is so bad that I won't stay here again. It comes right through the windows, which made me wonder if they're single pane. The staff have been excellent, and the shower is spacious and immaculate. Beyond that, the room is very small, with a tiny bathroom apart from the shower and a narrow path through it. The hot tub wasn't working, traffic made the pool area loud, and the gym felt cramped and overcrowded with too little open space.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the room was clean, modern, and roomy. Everything went smoothly, and I had a much better stay than I expected. I'll plan to come back next time we're in town.

Breakfast was delicious, though it isn't included, as others have mentioned, and housekeeping did a great job. We had a lovely corner room, but the water pressure could have been better. I mentioned it in the survey after checkout, and they replied that they'd addressed it. The pool and spa were closed for renovation while we were there earlier this month; it was too chilly to swim anyway. We had a great time and would stay again.
