The house has a lot of character and history, and it was still impressive even with restoration work going on. My daughter and I stayed one night for her 17th birthday. Our room, "Edward's Sunrise," was small but cute, though we found dust bunnies and the plants looked like they needed attention. An extension cord might be useful in an old house with so few outlets, especially if you have several devices. It wasn't an issue for me. We were told we'd have our own bathroom, but ended up sharing it with the room next door. I wasn't sure why we were given that impression. The walls are also very thin. We could hear the couple next door having sex at night and again in the morning. Hearing their moans and grunts made me uncomfortable and really spoiled what should have been a special birthday night for my daughter. Not a memory I wanted us to come away with. We also got locked out even though we had a key, after another guest accidentally locked the outer glass door. We waited outside for about 15 minutes until the innkeeper came to let us in. It was frustrating, and a clear sign on the door seems needed if it's easy to lock from the other side. There wasn't breakfast at the house, though we were told we'd get a discount at a brunch restaurant because we were guests at Emig Mansion. The stay was OK, with plenty that could've been better, but it was a pretty place with a cool history.

The building is beautiful, but this was the worst stay I've had, and I travel regularly as a photographer. We left after one night of a two-night booking, and I wasn't refunded for the unused night. The lack of service and the undisclosed room change were unacceptable. At first we were put in a room with a bathroom, then told shortly after arrival to move to one without one. We'd have to go upstairs to a shared bathroom. We're 68 and 72, and that arrangement was unreasonable, especially since it hadn't been disclosed before booking. The property calls itself a bed and breakfast, but provides no breakfast at all. We wouldn't have booked if we'd known. There also wasn't any staff onsite, nobody answered the phone, and there was no one to reach for help. The doors were left unlocked and unattended, which didn't feel safe. They say there's a 10 PM quiet policy, yet the guests next door were loud until 12:30 AM. With paper-thin walls and no staff around, there was no way to get help or have the policy enforced. Do not stay here.

I paid $597 for two nights in the master bedroom, with breakfast included. There was no breakfast at the house, just a $20 total voucher to drive somewhere for it. That was not appealing, especially with the lovely dining table right there. The coffee pot and the 5 gal. bottle were both empty, and old trash and an empty water bottle were left out for all three days. There were no people around except workers. While I was out Saturday, they went into my room without asking to use the electricity in my bathroom. They left the door open to the balcony, which was taped off so I couldn't use it, even though my yoga mat was there. On Saturday night a light came on and kept the master bedroom lit until someone in the other room turned theirs off around 1AM. I was really disappointed by how Lori spoke to me over text. It wasn't professional. The house is lovely, but Lori could use some business coaching, and shouldn't take frustrations out on customers who point out what needs doing.

The shared rooms are incredibly beautiful, with luxurious decor, and the house is a real treat if you're into history. Check-in was quick and easy, the hosts replied promptly, and there were plenty of snacks. Our room was spacious and the temperature was just right. The water pressure was surprisingly good for a historic home. I'd happily recommend it.

We were disappointed with the breakfast situation. My reservation invoice clearly says breakfast was included, but nobody asked at check-in whether we wanted it, and we didn't know we had to request something we'd already paid for. We may have missed an email saying we needed to ask, if one was sent, but it would've been reasonable to check with us at arrival, especially if we hadn't replied. The inside is beautiful and historic, though there are signs of neglect and poor upkeep. The exterior and grounds look very neglected too. Breakfast was bare minimum: granola bars, packaged pastries and cheese sticks, with nothing hot or fresh. The room amenities felt like Motel 6, and it wasn't the charming B&B stay we wanted. I rated the location poorly because the neighborhood is part industrial park and part rundown homes. It's not a pleasant area.
