Brisa Pacifica Hotel Encinita

The room itself was fine, and the staff we spoke with were friendly. What ruined the stay was how the hotel handled work inside our occupied room and the lack of concern for our privacy. My friend and I are two young women traveling alone, and we chose this place for its convenient location near the beach and other places we wanted to see in Encinitas. Check-in was smooth, and our first night was fine. We noticed flooring panels stacked in the hallway and signs apologizing for the appearance, but didn’t think much of it. The next morning we went hiking and got coffee, then came back early in the afternoon to find three men outside our room, with the door wide open. One was installing flooring, another stood beside him, and the third was nearby. They asked if it was our room, then said the work would take five minutes. It was closer to ten before we asked to go in. One worker asked us to leave the door open, but we needed to change, so we said no. No one at the hotel had told us that workers would be inside while our belongings were there and we were away. After we left again later, we returned to find the door had been opened once more. We spoke to a very kind, understanding front desk agent, who said management already knew and the manager had supposedly been supervising the workers. But nobody identified themselves as the manager, explained why this had to happen during our stay, or apologized directly. I asked management to contact me and still hadn’t heard back a week later. Maintenance and renovations are sometimes necessary, but leaving occupied rooms open or entering them without notice is unacceptable. The experience was deeply unsettling, and made us wonder if other guests’ rooms were being treated the same way. The communication, professionalism, and care for guest privacy and security overshadowed everything else.

We brought our dogs, and having a room that was easy to reach from outside made potty breaks simple. The hotel is also within walking distance of the beach. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful.

My grandson and I enjoyed watching the trains pass regularly, including commuter trains, Surf-liner, and freight. There are several restaurants within walking distance, and Moonlight State Beach is nearby, though I’d suggest driving there. It has restrooms, a playground, volleyball courts, a snack bar, sand, and waves. The hotel was comfortable and met our needs. Some renovation work is underway, including painting the interior halls. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. I’d definitely stay again, thank you!

I arrived late and booked at the last minute, but check-in went smoothly, even with a new person at the front desk. The rooms seemed clean, and I’d have friends or family stay here when they visit. I slept in and missed breakfast, unfortunately. Just be aware there’s a $100 deposit. I got mine back right after checkout.
