I picked this place for the location and ended up regretting it. I also used my valuable nightly upgrades here, which made the stay even more frustrating. This was easily my worst Marriott experience in eight years, and I wish zero stars were an option. The room was in rough shape: the couch was broken, the bathroom floor felt uneven and like it was coming apart, and the kitchenette barely had what I needed. I had to track down one bowl to make rice, and there weren’t enough utensils or proper pots and pans. There were coffee pouches but no coffeemaker. Instead, I was given an old, dirty toaster, and the creamers were expired or smelled awful. Getting help was difficult because the property seemed badly understaffed and the front desk was almost always unreachable. During check-in, I saw the receptionist asleep with the desk left unattended. I’d selected daily room service, but it only happened when I asked for it each day. Breakfast was poor and especially difficult for vegetarians. There wasn’t proper milk or yogurt for kids, and although they had bagels, I couldn’t find a bagel cutter. The dishes weren’t labeled, so it was hard to tell which were vegetarian and which weren’t. Marriott needs to review this property’s standards. It doesn’t live up to the brand.

I’d stayed here before and had great experiences with the former management. This time, the new management cancelled my weekend reservation and then refused to let me book another room. I’m a female college student and a domestic violence survivor, and I needed somewhere safe until Monday, when I’m moving into my apartment. It was freezing outside, and I was left thinking I’d have to sleep in my car. My mom used her membership points to book the room online in my name, with my name included in the notes. Staff insisted she had to come in person to check me in. At other Marriotts, they’ve called her using the number on file to confirm, or allowed me to check in because my name was on the booking. My mom was on the phone with me so they could see it was really her. Once I found out she could come in person, they’d already cancelled the reservation on the spot and wouldn’t provide any service at all. They said they were the new management. If this is a new policy, they could have waited for my mom to arrive and verify the room. I’ve never had another hotel instantly cancel an online reservation like this. Motel 6 has better staff than this particular management. Two male employees treated me in a way that made me feel they were hateful and put me in danger. I’m a regular college student, a good person, and presentable, so I don’t understand why they treated me this way. I thought Marriott was more professional. These employees shouldn’t represent the company, and I’ll be submitting a complaint to Marriott management.

The rooms were reasonably maintained, but the worn furniture, walls, and kitchen equipment made everything feel old. The bathroom floor seemed to dip a couple of inches, enough to make me wonder if I might fall through rotten floorboards. In the hall, faded paint showed where pictures or posters used to hang, and wall anchors stuck out where they could snag your clothes. Trash was left to pile up there during the first three days of our stay. We were told housekeeping came every other day, but on day three we had to remind staff it still hadn’t happened. After three days without clean towels or dishes, we raised it with Marriott, who assured us this wasn’t up to standard. Staff seemed disinterested in doing more than the minimum, and it felt like property upkeep had gotten ahead of them. The lobby also looked tired, with dark, dingy paint. The pool beside the parking lot clearly hadn’t opened all season, which was especially disappointing on a family trip during a heat wave.

We arrived to find the room dirty, the grab-and-go empty, and no front desk staff around. The grass was over a foot tall, and the city had shut down the pool. The place felt rundown and mismanaged from the start. I felt catfished.
