The room was okay, but the headboard shifted and squeaked when we leaned on it. Sound carried badly too. We heard footsteps, banging, things dropping upstairs, and a metallic drip from nearby showers that woke me every morning. I felt for the guests around us, since they probably heard me being sick at 2 a.m. The bigger problem was how the manager responded after I got food poisoning from the hard-boiled eggs at breakfast. She said she had eaten them and felt fine, and that they were kept on ice, which came across as doubting that the food made me ill. She also said I could have gone to the hospital if I were “really sick.” That wasn’t helpful or sympathetic. She questioned the timing even though it lined up, I hadn’t eaten anything else that could explain it, and the symptoms were textbook food poisoning. People can react differently, and one egg that wasn’t kept at the right temperature could be enough. Someone else eating the same eggs without getting sick doesn’t prove there wasn’t a problem. Later, she called our room even though my family had asked her not to because I was resting after being up all night. She confronted my husband about the honest review I’d left. That felt very unprofessional. I understand the hotel wants to defend its food safety practices, but some acknowledgement or empathy would have gone a long way. Instead, she said no one else had gotten sick before, so it couldn’t be their fault. I was really disappointed by the way she communicated, and it made an already bad stay worse.

My husband stayed here several times over the past few weeks and checked out yesterday. He asked me to write this for him. He was really pleased with how clean the place was and how friendly the staff were. He especially mentioned Yisrael at the night front desk, who he described as energetic and welcoming, and Raheem and Liz, who were both kind and polite. He said they made him feel right at home, and we appreciate that kind of service. I’m looking forward to staying here with him next time. These staff members are rare gems, and we highly recommend the hotel.

The dog hair was everywhere, from the hallways and furniture to inside our room, and the constant barking and dogs running around the halls kept us awake all night. It felt more like a kennel than a hotel. The front desk didn’t help. They offered to move us, but the other room had a broken shower. Easily one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. If you want somewhere clean and quiet, I’d avoid this place.

After working overnight, I was woken by the building’s fire alarm, which kept sounding from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. The onsite team said they were meant to silence it, but we could still hear it. Why schedule fire alarm service for 7 in the morning when it could have been done in the afternoon? A little planning and consideration would have made a big difference.

I spend more than 100 nights a year at Marriotts, and stayed at this Residence Inn last night. The whole facility is new, my room was clean and comfortable, and everyone on staff was friendly.
