Courtyard by Marriott Erie Bayfront

Our little family of three had such a good time that one night turned into two. The food was fresh and well priced, and the pool area was a 10/10. The employees and manager were friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to come back, hopefully in room 231 next to the pool, lol.

The location is nice, but the room needs work. The mattress was uncomfortable and made it hard to sleep well. Also, there was no shower door or curtain, so water wound up all over the bathroom floor after each shower. We expected better comfort and a more practical bathroom from a Marriott property, and the stay at Courtyard by Marriott Erie Bayfront wasn’t good.

Mr. Hess at the front desk, who I believe is the Director of Front Office, handled our concerns professionally at checkout. He apologized, offered to credit half of my stay, and thanked me for the chance to address what happened. I appreciated his response, and his customer service made a difference. The property still needs attention during renovations. The room wasn’t clean, and the comforter and bedding had visible stains. Housekeeping changed the sheets after I contacted the desk, but I wasn’t offered another room. We also planned to use the pool, but no one mentioned at booking or check-in that the area was under construction. The whole floor looked unfinished and uninviting, with exposed flooring, blocked-off sections, scattered towels, and plastic coverings. There was no online notice that the pool would be unavailable or under renovation, which was disappointing.

There was a mix-up with the dates for our Sunset Suite, and at first we were told it wouldn’t be available for the days we’d booked. By the time we arrived, the staff had sorted it out and put us in the suite for the right dates. They also comped the first night to make up for the hassle, which we really appreciated. We’d booked a block of rooms for family in town for our reception, and the accommodations were wonderful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and it was lovely having a spot for guests to gather at the bar and unwind by the outdoor fireplaces afterward.
