Fairfield Inn Erie Millcreek Mall

I stay here quite often for work and have never had any issues. The rooms are decent and it's a simple hotel. Sometimes there's no one at the front desk, I assume because they're helping another guest. I haven't really tried the free breakfast, though I'm sure it's like most Fairfield's. There are plenty of nearby shops and places to eat.

The room, beds, front desk staff, and cleanliness were all spotless and impeccable. That's why our hotel choice in Erie shifted to Fairfield Inn by Marriott at Millcreek Mall. We were there for a long weekend enjoying Presque Isle in Erie, PA. The reason for four stars is the wording in the Marriott Bonboy app. It made us choose between a room without the hot breakfast buffet and one with it, at a higher rate, so naturally we picked the latter. But this supposedly all-powerful hot buffet was scrambled eggs and hot sausages, bananas, the usual orange juice and cold milk, plus the common waffle makers. That's an odd selection to call a hot breakfast buffet. Please address that wording. Thank you.

Most of the hotel was pleasant, but a few problems turned what probably would have been a five-star stay into a three. Check-in staff were rude and impatient, and didn't clearly explain the process. We had called an hour earlier to make sure we could check in for a work trip with a company paying by phone. On arrival, they gave us ten extra steps that they'd said on the call didn't exist at the property. The TV also advertised services that didn't work, including HBO Max, which was supposed to be free during the stay and didn't function on any day. After three days, we asked for fresh towels. They took the old ones and didn't bring any to our room.

We only found out the pool was closed after arriving and checking in. They wouldn't give us a refund or discount. There are bugs in the bathroom, and we're about to leave and take the loss.
