The rooms are huge and lovely, with carved wood, beam ceilings, a gas fireplace, and a jetted shower/tub. The main building has the feel of a cozy B&B, with Native American pottery and decor. This place has real charm and feels like an authentic old Pueblo property, not new construction dressed up to look old. Even the dirt parking lot fits. Romantic and full of character.

The greenery outside makes for a lovely, romantic setting. Inside, our room was spacious and clean, and the fireplace made it feel cozy. The shower pressure was amazing, and there was a heat lamp in the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and walked us toward our room. We’ll stay again when we’re in town.

It’s charming, and the price is a fraction of what you’d pay for Santa Fe-level style. The Rio Grande runs through Espanola, and the town is about a 45-minute drive from Santa Fe or north of Abiquiu, where O'Keefe memorialized those pastel chalk hills. Nearby, don’t miss the Drive Thru jerky and piñon shop, about a block away. The Inn’s restaurant nearby, La Fonda something, was good too. I had seafood and felt it was trustworthy. My room was at the highway end, #2, but road noise was negligible. It had high ceilings with vigas and burnished plaster walls, and the builder was clearly an artist. The building’s thick walls and beautiful foyer made a strong impression. Staff were friendly and gave me space when I wanted it. I could’ve used more natural light in December, though I bet the rooms are great on hot days. Nothing smelled overpoweringly of perfume or cleaning products, which was a relief. The bubble tub was clean and its jets worked well. The whole room was very clean.

The front desk was helpful whenever I stopped by for ice, toiletries, or suggestions, and I was greeted by a friendly labradoodle and staff each day. The room was enormous, quiet, private, and felt safe. It was dark enough to sleep in, too. The Inn at the Delta feels like a hidden gem preserved in time. My room had classic New Mexico touches, including viga ceilings, a kiva fireplace, and one of the deepest tubs I’ve soaked in. That bath alone made the stay worthwhile. If you’re passing through Española, I’d recommend it. There’s also great Mexican food in the adjoining parking lot at LaFonda, though check the days and hours.

The art collection and lovely decor reflect years of support for the local community. It’s a serene place, with beautiful construction and a classy, charming rustic Southwest style. We were glad we stayed.
