Nicky's Resort

We really liked our cabin at the back of the resort. It was warm and cozy, with comfortable beds and an A+ heater, and the location was perfect. I’d happily stay again and recommend it. One small concern: when it snowed, the steps and walkway to the parking lot stayed slippery. The route down from cabin #2 is steep and precarious, especially for my elderly mom. Management should consider a traction mat there during winter if the snow and ice can’t be cleared. Aside from that minor issue, it was a wonderful, five-star stay.

I booked four nonrefundable nights, but left after just one. The bedspread was dirty, and the soap dispenser was dripping onto the counter. The extra pillow looked like someone had a nosebleed on it. The sheets didn’t smell fresh, and I’m not sure they were clean.

The quiet, serene setting made this a lovely stay, and I’ll definitely return. It’s only four miles from the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, which was much less congested. The host was kind and incredibly accommodating, and the rate couldn’t be beat. We stayed in suite #200, which sleeps six or more. It wasn’t fancy, but it was clean, cozy, and comfortable, with an amazing mountain view and the sound of a busy stream running through the property. Each room has a sliding patio door with a screen that opens onto the deck. I loved sitting there with coffee in the morning, looking at the mountain and listening to the water. One day a friendly little wild turkey wandered through the parking lot looking for a snack. There’s a Swiss chalet-style restaurant across the parking lot, where you can eat and have good drinks alongside the stream. I cooked dinner on one of the propane grills outside the pool area. The heated pool was closed for the season, so I didn’t get to use it, but it looked clean and a good size. Thanks to the wonderful staff for a great visit!

We woke up to bed bugs crawling on the mattresses and pillows in all three beds, and we were bitten all over. We called maintenance and the service people right away. One person came to inspect it and said we’d get a full refund since we weren’t staying the second night. More than two months have passed, and the refund still hasn’t arrived. The check-in was confusing because the front office was closed, apparently to limit complaints, though we had a good evening after getting in. The location is picturesque, but the service and rooms didn’t live up to it. The outside looks nice; inside, it was disgusting. Stay away if you don’t want to bring bed bugs home.
