Counting Z's

For the price, I guess you get what you pay for. This felt like a hostel, not a “boutique hotel.” The room barely fit the bed, there was no parking, the bathrooms were shared, and the place didn’t feel secure. The shared kitchens were odd and unsanitary: dirty dishes in the sink, unopened soup in the freezer, an open jar of pickles on the counter, and dirty counters. In the bathrooms, paper towel holders were broken and left on the counter, and the shower soap dispensers were broken too. The door codes may or may not work. There wasn’t a trash can in the room or anywhere to put luggage. It’s a hostel.

I arrived to find that the entry code they’d given me didn’t work. I waited outside in the sun for twenty minutes and couldn’t reach customer support. They have a lot of specific rules, yet provide very poor accommodation and support. In the end, I had to book somewhere else. Expedia let me put the money toward another place even though my reservation was marked “non-refundable.” Even Expedia couldn’t get hold of them. A complete waste of time, with pathetic customer support.

This place is right in the middle of everything, spotlessly clean and quiet, and having laundry on site was great after I got caught in a rainstorm and needed the dryer. The self check-in was a little tricky because our code didn’t work at the front door, but staff came to help. You do have to share a bathroom, but for the cost it’s totally worth it. I’d stay again.

We were here over a home game weekend, when the rate jumped to about $175 a night including tax. The rooms are very small, there’s no parking, and the bathrooms are shared. I missed those details when booking, though they were clear about the bathroom and parking situation. When we got there, our TV had no remote and we had just one towel. I attached screenshots of messages with off-site staff, and we also emailed, but the problems never got fixed. Lots of promises, no solutions. A horrible, overpriced stay.
